Brief Itinerary.

Day 1. You will be picked up from Casablanca airport and taken to your hotel where you will have time to rest  before a visit to the spectacular Hassan 11 Mosque  which boasts the tallest minaret in the world and a prayer hall big enough to accommodate 25,000 worshippers. We will get to know each other and discuss the tour over dinner later at our hotel.

Day 2. We head for the Imperial city of Meknes after breakfast,  Moulay Ismail made this his capital in the 1600’s so lots to see here before lunch after which we will take the road to the stunning blue pearl of the Rif mountains, Chefchaouen. This is one of the many highlights of the tour , a truly unique town.

Day 3. Today we will tour this pretty blue town perched high on the mountain with its myriad of quaint, colourful alleyways ,  ancient casbah and Foundouk ( ancient camel train stop over) . You will see many local artisans at work weaving wool and silk materials, a well known local craft. Taste local specialities at dinner.

Day4. Today we are on our way to the ancient, unique and supremely self confident Imperial city of Fes. Picnic lunch on the way and on arrival in Fes a tour of the city ramparts and Imperial palace. Dinner in our Secret garden….Fes is full of wonderful surprises.

Day 5. After a traditional Fasi breakfast we will tour the Medieval Medina , the oldest university in the world, Tanneries, mausoleums and Madrasas ( places of learning). lunch in another hidden garden. So much more to see here in the daunting Labyrinth of streets, we will explore.

Day 6. As dawn rises over the city we set off into the awe inspiring Atlas mountains, coffee in the town of Ifrane and on through cedar forests, home to the Barbary ape and often clothed in Snow in winter and spring, before descending to Midelt, Erachidia and on to the Sahara. We will stop for lunch on the way to Merzouga our desert outpost.

Day 7. We will visit Rissani an ancient slave trading town, check out the fossil museum and sample some Tuareg specialities before mounting our camels for a night in the desert camp. You will sleep soundly in the silence of the dunes under the stars then perhaps watch the moon set on the magnificent Sahara as the sun rises behind you.

Day 8. Today we are on the road to 2 of the most amazing gorges Todra and Dades where you will spend the night among amazing rock formations , also a visit to a wonderful museum dedicated to the Berber and Tuareg way of life built around a desert Spring.

Day 9. We are on our way to Ouarzazate with its ancient casbah where many films have been made. Ait Ben Hadou and another casbah for lunch then on to Magical pink City of Marrakesh . Time to freshen up before shadows fall and the famous Djemma El Fna Square comes to life like a Jinni out of a lamp.

Day 10. A tour of this fascinating city , its Souk, famous Majorelle garden created by Yves St Laurent, Sadian tombs and much more. We can discuss over breakfast the sights you would most like to visit as there are many galleries and museums also. Perhaps treat yourself to a relaxing Hammam before dinner.

Day 11. Lets head for the southern  Atlantic coastal town of Essaouira or Mogador as it was once known, for some sea air. This is a popular surfing town but has lots more to offer and a great place for rambling with many art galleries and quirky shops.

Day 12. A cooking class in the famous cookery school where you will learn the use of spices and the art of Tagine cooking, (optional), or just Wander the easy to negotiate Medina . Perhaps a stroll, camel or horse ride along the beach and some freshly caught sea food…of course by now you will be chatting easily in the local Arabic dialect so enjoy, explore, bargain.

Day 13. We are on our way along the coast road to Casablanca with a  relaxing lunch stop in the beautiful Lagoon of Oualidia where the dunes meet the ocean. Dinner and unwind in Casablanca

Day 14. Today we will say sad farewells and hope you will travel with us again….many do. You will be taken to the airport for your homeward flight.
