This tour will Depart from Malaga in Andalusia Spain to the Rif Mountains, on to Fes, through the Ziz valley to Erfoud, Merzouga and the Sahara Desert  where you will spend a night under the stars at a Touareg encampment, returning via the Magnificent Todra Gorge and Fes . We will have  one and two overnight stays at these destinations  with excursions to places of interest. Come and discover the real Morocco.

Itinerary:

  •  Day 1. We will collect you from an agreed pick up point, your Hotel or home,  to start the journey to our ferry port for the crossing to Morocco. Lunch will be a picnic on board during the one hour crossing where you may spot Dolphins escorting us. Once through customs there is a 2 hour drive with a stop for mint tea, through the Rif to our first destination Chefchaouen, the pretty blue town once a Berber Stronghold built to fend of  Portuguese invaders. You will have time to rest before a visit to the Medina and dinner.
  • Day 2.  We will depart after a leisurely breakfast for the Imperial city of Fes. The journey time is 3 hours with  breaks for coffee and photographs. On arrival at our Riad we will  enjoy a light lunch before taking a tour of this ancient, exciting and unique  Medina with more than 8,000 streets. Dinner will be on the roof terrace of our Riad.
  • If you are joining us in Fes please give us your flight details so that we may arrange your car from the airport to our Riad.
  • Day 3.  After breakfast a visit to the Royal Palace, the famous Potteries, a carpet cooperative housed in the most stunning building and much more then lunch in our secret Garden. Rest time after lunch and you may want to experience a traditional Hammam or watch the world go by over a coffee at  the famous Bab Boujloud. Time for a stroll in the Medina before Dinner .

  • Day 4.   We depart from Fes  and begin our ascent to Ifrane, a winter Ski resort then on through the Middle Atlas Mountains Cedar forests, jagged rock faces where you may spot the Barbary Macaque  ape passing many Berber hamlets as we begin to descend towards the Desert. We  lunch in the town of Midelt, famous for its Fossils then on to the fascinating town of Rissani.
  • Day 5.  We will pick up our camels late afternoon and head for the Sahara to enjoy the sunset over the dunes and spend a night under the stars with  some Touareg music round the camp fire after dinner.
  • Day 6.  We will  return to our hotel for breakfast and a freshen up before visiting local places of interest such as  a fossil museum, ancient Kasr and Kasbah hidden in the date palm Oasis and much more.

  • Day 7. Off to the majestic Dades Gorge which gives the phrase between a rock and a hard place a whole new meaning. We will explore the gorges and surrounding area including a fascinating museum before a relaxing spa experience at our special Riad.
  • Day 8.  Depart after breakfast for our return to the city of Fes through the  stunning Ziz valley and its spectacular Jurassic geography. Dinner will be at our Riad in Fes.
  • Day 9. If you have flown in to Fes to join this trip then you may have planned your return flight for today, if so we will arrange your car to the airport. Those continuing on will travel with us to Asillah on the Atlantic coast.

  • Day 10. We will visit this pretty tranquil Medina, visit an art gallery and lunch by the sea at a secret spot, there is much to see and enjoy.
  • Day 11. Sad farewells after breakfast and we  depart for our return Ferry crossing with a stop at a roadside ceramics stall for any last minute gifts, lunch on the ferry and  we  hope to  have you at your return destination in time for Dinner.
